11/5/2023 0 Comments Asus gpu tweak voltageUnlike past flagship products that are already running at or near their allowable limits, NVIDIA seems to have built in a good amount of headroom into their latest and greatest. The one aspect which piqued everyone’s attention at launch was the GTX 580’s willingness to overclock. Performance is there in spades and from all indications, sales have been extremely brisk at a number of North America’s largest retailers. In our opinion it can be considered one of the best cards released in 2010. To say that we were impressed with the direction NVIDIA took with the GTX 580 would be an understatement of epic proportions. Not only was overall efficiency increased but the performance per watt attained by the new GF110-based card was leaps and bounds better than the previous ultra high end GTX 480. Thanks goes to VSPTT from our Finnish muropaketti forum.With the launch of the GTX 580 less than a week ago, NVIDIA proved they could take the original GF100 architecture and improve it in a number of ways. Now when you click the "unofficial overclocking" tab you get overclock ability without limits as well as voltage unlocking. Then uninstall it but don't reboot yet, install the GPUTweak 2.2.14 and now you can reboot the machine. First install the newest version of GPUTweak available from the Asus site, reboot the machine, open the "unofficial overclocking" feature from the GPUTweak adjustments. But a mix of these versions give you high overclock ability and the voltage unlocking. Other vesions have higher clock limits but they don't have the voltage adjustment. The poblem with the unofficial GPUTweak 2.2.14 is that you can't rise the clocks above the CCC regular overclock limit. GPU-Z shows the voltage wrong so you cant trust it. Ofcourse I don't know the real voltage, but I doupt the core would overclock to 1325MHz(1,225V) with stock voltage (and 1375MHz with 1,3V). I had no problem to rise the voltage on my own DC2 with stock bios. If this is the case then there is 7970 DC2 vesions that can be voltage unlocked. If I get enough feedback I might even make a separate thread on how to do it. Also, if anyone needs to know how to unlock your voltage locked DCUII let me know and I can probably send a PM with the instructions, it's pretty lengthy and in depth (for me at least, I'm no IT guru). My questions are: Which program is reporting the more correct reading? Is GPU-Z getting it's information from GPUTweak? How trustworthy is ASUS's OC'ing utility in terms of controlling and holding the desired settings? It will occasionally hit the applied setting but no longer than a second or two. while GPUTweak's monitoring tab will read LOWER than what I applied the voltage at and will fluctuate frequently not holding a steady voltage. Under load, GPU-Z reads steady with no fluctuations whatever voltage I applied in GPUTweak. Now after doing some OC benching and testing I noticed in GPUTweak's monitoring tab and GPU-Z that they are reporting conflicting GPU voltage. I recently have gotten into building gaming PC's/rigs and with my last/current build I used the ASUS DCUII HD 7970 (non-top version).Īfter extensive researching and Google'ing I was able to re-flash the GPU BIOS with the ASUS Matrix HD 7970 BIOS and now I no longer have the GPU 1125MHz OC cap or the GPU 1.188V cap.
